8.1.16 // #19 – i have never known beauty

ugliness is never seen until one
can read it all over one’s face

people are always beautiful until
you can sense their murkiness

i see the superficial
the plastic
the malleability

and find the hideousness they try
so hard to hide

ugliness is not a feature or an expression
it is the words transcribed and written
it is the sins that are borne with pride, and refuse shame

such ugliness lies in everyone
and it is this that i only see
i have never seen beauty
and have only known ugliness
and have only seen so

people become their ugliness
and cannot scrub it off their face
